Either by remodel or new construction, these points make plenty of sense. There are so many ways a home can be modified to serve you better, which is what your home should do. If you are considering a full remodel or new construction, it would also be worthwhile to consider having your electrical receptacles and switches adjusted to allow for easy wheelchare access to them. Another thing to consider is an automation system. It's not quite the Jetsons, but the ability to turn on or off lights, adjust the temperature, secure the house, access cameras, access door openers and access systems is an advantage even if you aren't restricted in your activities. These systems can also be integrated with an alarm system, with a plug in desktop controller that with the press of a button you can turn off the lights, arm the alarm system and set the thermostat to your comfort setting for the evening. Many of these systems and devices are designed for retrofit as well as new construction work, and are less expensive than you might think. the best part about these types of systems is that they are software driven; most can have the software changed via a secure internet connection to your dealer! This allows for flexiblity as your needs change over time.
